What it involves

With our 22 day Gold Dog Grooming Course, you will be taught all you need to know to attain the qualifications and skills necessary to become a professional dog groomer. This course typically includes the Level 2 certificate, however if you already have the Level 2, you can enrol for the Level 3 instead.

What to expect: 

Your training will begin in the morning with a theory-based session, covering:

• The course prospectus
• The course manual
• Our health and safety policies
• Information about your starter pack

You will carry out a health check on a pet, gaining the underpinning knowledge that is required to begin your practical sessions.

In the afternoon, you will be observing and often joining in with the professional bathing, drying and dog styling in action. This will help you to get a real feel for the environment and give you a chance to meet fellow students and staff members. It’s a hands-on course from day one!

Throughout the rest of the course, you’ll cover: 

• General salon skills, from preparation and bathing through to styling and shaping
• Kind Handling and control methods
• Equipment choices
• Breeds and coat styling
• Hand-stripping (terriers, gun dogs and alternative methods)
• Time-saving techniques
• Customer care
• Business start-up advice
• Access to watch and participate in cat grooming
• At-home studies
