Pet Grooming Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 31/08/2022.

When booking your appointment you automatically accept the following terms and conditions:

General Terms and Conditions

  • For the safety of the staff and your pet, Absolutely Animals requires that you disclose when booking if your dog or cat exhibits any difficult or aggressive behaviour. We must ensure staff and pets are protected against injury.
  • No liability will be accepted by Absolutely Animals in injury caused by the difficult or aggressive behaviour of your pet.
  • We cannot be held liable for any irritation that may occur after hand stripping has been performed.
  • No liability will be accepted by Absolutely Animals when any health problem is uncovered or aggravated by any part of the grooming process. We will endeavour to notify you of anything we uncover during the grooming.
  • An additional cost will be incurred for any dogs that require knot or matted coat removal.  This incurs additional costs because it is a time-consuming process requiring expertise so as not to injure the animal, it also dulls equipment. Any additional products used in knot removal will be charged.
  • Flea baths incur an additional cost, as not only do the dogs have to sit in the flea shampoo for 10–15 minutes to kill fleas, but we also have to fumigate the whole salon to prevent fleas from settling or spreading.
  • We no longer pluck ears for dogs and clip the hairs shorter instead.
  • We do not express anal glands.
  • The minimum charge for a dog grooming appointment is £65.
  • All clients must use the portal or fill out, sign and date a record card and agreed to the disclaimer.
  • Please make sure all dogs are well walked and given ample opportunity to toilet before coming to their pet grooming appointment. Additional fees will be incurred for defecating and urinating where this has not happened.
  • Please note that any bookings require a £40 deposit. This deposit is non-refundable. The deposit is also non-transferable unless we are notified 48 hours or more before the time and date of the appointment.
  • Deposits can be taken over the phone or in-person, and can be rolled over from one appointment to the next.
  • Please read the Privacy Policy below, which outlines our GDPR (Data Protection) policy.
  • We reserve the right to take and use pictures of your pet for social media, advertising and education. If you do not wish pictures of your pet to be used for these purposes, you must notify us at the time of your appointment.

Terms and Conditions for Dog Teeth Cleaning

Absolutely Animals uses the Cleany Teeth ultrasonic toothbrush, which operates without the movement, vibration or noise associated with a conventional electric toothbrush.

Before and after photographs may be taken so that you can see the results of the session.

The service is intended to clean the visible surfaces of your dog’s teeth and may help remove visible plaque, tartar and staining. A non-sharp plastic tool may also be used where appropriate to assist with the removal of visible build-up.

Suitability for Teeth Cleaning

Before booking, please check that your dog is comfortable having their mouth handled. You should be able to gently lift their lips, touch around their gums and teeth, and briefly place your fingers inside their mouth without them becoming distressed or showing signs of aggression.

Your dog must also be comfortable allowing a member of Absolutely Animals staff to handle their mouth and teeth. A dog that is comfortable with its owner may still react differently when handled by someone else.

Dogs that become aggressive, attempt to bite, become excessively distressed or cannot be safely handled will not be able to continue with the service and may be turned away.

Absolutely Animals reserves the right to stop or refuse the service at any point if staff believe that continuing would be unsafe or unsuitable for the dog or member of staff.

We May Stop the Teeth Cleaning Session If:

  1. Loose, damaged or painful teeth are suspected.
  2. Your dog becomes distressed, uncomfortable, aggressive or attempts to bite.
  3. Staff notice anything concerning in the mouth, including swelling, injury, foreign objects, unusual growths or other abnormalities that may require veterinary attention.
  4. Your dog cannot be safely handled sufficiently for the service to continue.

Deposits and Charges

  1. Deposits/fees for teeth cleaning appointments are non-refundable in accordance with our general booking Terms and Conditions.
  2. If your dog cannot receive the service because they become aggressive, attempt to bite or cannot be safely handled, the deposit/fee will not be refunded.
  3. Customers are responsible for checking their dog’s suitability for the service before booking.
  4. If a session has already begun and has to be stopped for health, welfare or behavioural reasons, the full session fee will remain payable.

Appointments and Top-Ups

  1. The first teeth cleaning session costs £40.
  2. Top-up appointments cost £25 and last approximately 15 minutes for the whole mouth.
  3. Top-ups must be carried out within 12 weeks of the previous appointment.
  4. Top-ups are only available where the whole mouth was deemed fully clean by our professional team at the previous appointment.
  5. If the mouth is not suitable for a top-up, a full teeth cleaning session may be required instead.

Important Information

  1. The service is limited to cleaning the visible surfaces of the teeth and does not include cleaning below the gum line, dental extractions, diagnosis or treatment of dental disease.
  2. Minor gum irritation or a small amount of bleeding may occasionally occur, particularly where there is visible plaque or tartar build-up. The session will be stopped if staff are concerned about bleeding or discomfort.
  3. If anything concerning is noticed, we may recommend that you seek advice from your veterinary surgeon.
  4. Teeth cleaning at Absolutely Animals is not a veterinary dental examination or treatment and does not replace veterinary advice, diagnosis or veterinary dental care.
  5. This service does not constitute a veterinary dental inspection and should not be relied upon as a veterinary examination or dental check for the purposes of a pet insurance policy. If your insurer requires a dental examination or evidence of dental health, this must be obtained from your veterinary surgeon.
  6. Results vary between dogs and complete removal of plaque, tartar or staining cannot be guaranteed.
