F.A.Q

How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by popping into the shop during opening hours or by telephoning the salon on 020 8857-2888, we have an answering machine to take your call out of hours
or you can e-mail at info@absolutelyanimals.biz with any enquiries you have

How long is your waiting list?
For your convenience we do not have a waiting list and aim to be able to give your pet an appointment within the next two weeks of your enquiry. As we are fully staffed we are also open 6 days a week so can accommodate with a wider choice of appointments.

How long will you keep my pet for?
Our appointment system works to minimise the time your dog is in the salon and providing a stress free environment. Morning appointments will arrive at 9-9.30 and will be picked up at 12-30 to 1.00.
Afternoon appointments will arrive at 1.00-2.00 and will be collected at 3.30-4.00 or as arranged.

Does my dog go in a cage/crate?
At Absolutely Animals we do not crate or cage dogs. Dogs are situated in a comfortable area in the salon where they are included in the ambiance of the room; although they cannot physically interact with each other they can see each other and this settles them for the short while they are with us.

Will my dog be sedated?
Dogs are not sedated on these premises although we do accept dogs under prior arrangement and with assessment who may be sedated by their owner under veterinary supervision, with a view to re-training and minimising the sedation over time.

Will I have a choice of styles?
We offer to be able to groom your dog in a style of your choice on condition the coat is knot free and plentiful and the dog of good temperament. We offer different price ranges for you to choose from reflecting the work done.

Can you de-matt my dog?
We do not de-matt dogs as we feel that this can uncomfortable and stressfull for dogs who are not used to being handled so intimatley, and this can also be very time consuming. However we will remove a small amount of knots during the grooming process.
The animal welfare act stipulates it is an offense to cause animals pain or discomfort and we reserve the right to remove coat if we feel this is the case

Do you have a collection service?
Collection and delivery is available under prior arrangement at an additional cost. Please call for a quote.

When should my puppy have its first session?
We advise you to start your puppy with a bath and trim a week after the final vaccinations. Your puppy can get used to the sights and smells of the salon and settle in from an early age.

Will I get a discount if I have 2 or more dogs?
Sorry!   We don't usually give discounts as the same work is usually required.
but please drop by and pick our New Customer Loyalty Card As we cherish our Customers we would like to reward you.
You will receive a 5% or 20% discount at every other appointment with our Customer Loyalty Card

Is there anything I should bring?
You could bring a treat with your dog-preferably something really tasty which your pet wont refuse. This acts as a really good reward for good behaviour and helps us to gain your dogs interest.

What equipment do I need at home?
You will need a brush and comb for your pets coat type and will usually need to use this on a weekly basis, removing knots and debris from the coat. A secure table makes a good place for grooming as your pet will be in a more comfortable position for you to reach around the legs
It is also beneficial for your pet if you remove the hair from the ears on a weekly basis

Why can you not give me a definite price over the phone?
The prices are usually set at a realistic price depending on the breed and work to be carried out but you may incur additional charges for removal of stubborn knots or well overdue and unkempt coats or aggressive behaviour

Will my dog go in a drying box?
We do not use drying boxes as we feel these are unnecessary with the most up to date equipment we have available.

Do you charge a 'no show' fee?
As we lose money when business does not show up we are now charging the cost of the full groom for no shows. This money must be paid before another appointment is made.

What are Anal Glands?
These are situated on either side of the anus and are scenting glands. These can be externally emptied if they have become blocked or are uncomfortable for your dog. We do not routinely empty these glands as we feel if there is no problem with them they should be left alone. If your dog is having a problem they will be scooting their bottom along the floor or you may notice a particularly offensive smell around the rear of your dog(if this is the case please ask)

Will students be working on my dog?
Students may be working on your dog, along with a tutor. We are fully insured for this and ensure our clients that their pet is in the best possible hands as our students follow structured instructions and are supervised at all times. We have also reflected this in our prices and are positive that our clients will still receive an outstanding finish.

Can i leave a tip?
Of course we are always appreciative of a tip. This will usually go to the person who has groomed the dog(particularly if this is a student as they are always excited about appraisals of their work)
